Port of Cape Town – container terminal expansion
|
|
In 2007, ZAA was approached by contractors WBHO/Civil & Coastal Joint Venture, now WBHO/Stefanutti Stocks Marine JV, to prepare an alternative design for the extension to Berths 601, 602, 603 and 604 of the Cape Town Container Terminal. The contractor won the tender on the alternative design, and design work commenced in December 2007 with construction commencing a month later in January 2008. Early in the design, stability issues with the existing quay were noted by ZAA and verified using specialist ground modelling techniques. These findings have required that design strategies be adapted for different sections of the works. ![]() |
